| In the"Dictionary of Spanish painters and sculptors
of the XXth Century", (1994) 4th
volume, page 1112, Dr. Escudero appears due to a personal new technique
he has invented for engraving grey marble. He is able to achieve more
than thirty levels of grey with this unique technique. Not a single museum
in the world has anything similar. On this web we will create a special
place to show his engravings, which earnt him the International Gold Medal
from the European Academy of Arts, in 1991. In the "Diccionary of Valencian Artists of the XXth Century", (1999) 1st volume, pages 553 and 554 appears Dr. Escudero and the following photo working in his studio:

In the year 1988 Dr. Escudero put on grey Italian marble, with his technique, seven of the paintings by the famous Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla. They were exhibited for the first time in INTERARTE (The International Valencian fair of Art) that year. On this "gallery" we will exhibit them.
Joaquín Sorolla's eighteen family members with Doctor and Mrs. Escudero in the concert of the "Unión Musical de LLiria": "Homage concert to Sorolla" by Adam Ferrero, for the opening of one of Escudero's marble exhibitions, of which his "Homage to Sorolla" was the center. This took place on December 1990, the same day in which the SOROLLA'S ANTHOLOGICAL EXHIBITION was open in the IVAM (Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno) The concert took place on Ribera street, close to the Ribera's Art Gallery in Valencia.

Black and white, shades of gray
Slowly changing into colors rare
Old worlds reborn, ages young again
Stories retold, lives relived
Once different, the world changed
Not unlike the changing of her seasons
Hot, stagnant, still summer
Melts into quiet, alone, grey
fall
Without telling, white, silent winter
Comes before the rebirthing of spring
If the seasons of her life changed rhythm
Would her world still turn
as before
Or would she simply just disappear
With the wisp of a cloud
A single drop in the mist of rain
Or float away on a gentle breeze

Dr. Escudero infron of "Afternoon sun"
When we met again in Madrid, he showed me his masterly marble, one of 'Pinazo's self-portraits' in which he wears a Bohemian hat. The perfection of the engraving on marble is magisterial, it may have even improved the original if that were possibleand using almost nothing, no colour, obtaining everything with greys and white. An amazing surgeon, an innovator and a very original engraver, Angel Escudero. |
